Tropical Depression Nine was ragged and moving west across the southern Gulf of Mexico, just north of western Cuba. Maximum sustained winds were near 35 mph. This motion is expected to continue today, then the system is expected to slow down and turn north Tue and Wed. A turn to the northeast is expected Wednesday as the storm tracks toward the northeast Gulf of Mexico Thu.
Some strengthening is forecast during the next 48 hours.
There are no coastal watches or warnings in effect.
Please closely monitor the progress of Tropical Depression Nine. Forecast models are in better agreement on the storm taking a more northeast track as it moves across the northeast Gulf of Mexico Wed and Thu.
Be cautious of social media posts and other sources presenting model positions for the storm.
