… Dangerous Marine Conditions Tonight and Wednesday …

A strong cold front will start to push into the northwest portion of the Georgia coastal plains this late evening, then quickly migrate southeastward through southeast Georgia and Northeast Florida overnight.

Timing and Overview:
Breezy to Gusty North winds will prevail across region and Coastal Waters late tonight and Wednesday with relative humidity values plummeting during the day Wednesday. The winds will weaken Wednesday night as high pressure builds southward.

Northeast Florida and Southeast Georgia Impacts:
Wind:
North to Northeast 15 to 25 mph with gusts 25 to 35 mph over land late tonight and Wednesday. Over the adjacent Atlantic Waters…Northwest winds 15 to 20 knots this evening, becoming North at 30 to 35 knots with gusts to 40 knots late tonight into Wednesday. Gale warning is in effect late tonight through Wednesday evening over adjacent Atlantic Waters.

Note: Operating a vessel in gale conditions requires experience and properly equipped vessels. It is highly recommended that mariners without the proper experience seek safe harbor prior to the onset of gale conditions.

Seas: Seas will build to 8 to 11 feet near-shore late tonight and Wednesday. Seas will build 9 to 12 feet offshore after midnight…then 12 to 16 feet Wednesday. At the coast…moderate rip currents are expected today with strong rip currents developing by tonight and Wednesday.

Humidity: Decreasing to 20 to 25 percent over the Suwannee Valley and interior Coastal Georgia Plains by Wednesday afternoon.

Cold Weather: Areas of frost Wednesday night over interior southeast Georgia and the Suwannee Valley of northeast Florida. Low temperatures will be near freezing.

Fire Impacts: Dry fuels will create favorable conditions for rapid fire growth. Marine Impacts: Dangerous boating conditions for small craft.
