This last Saturday the 17th saw the Air Evac Life Team, Ware County Emergency Medical Service (EMS) along with the Ware County Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) hosting a Safety/Preparedness Day event. It started at 10:30 but before hand if you didn’t hear the sirens and see the Air Evac Life Team helicopter flying around you missed out.
What was going on you may ask, well before the event there was a practise drill with all of the above emergency services. The disaster preparedness training had a Lowe’s representative volunteer to be the victim. The scenario was that she had fallen from the high racks and had suffered head injuries. Now of course there were no Lowe’s emplyee’s hurt in this exercise.
You can see from the pictures that it involved everyone. Now there may be some of you thinking, why bother, well isn’t it better that every emergency service knows what they are supposed to do, after all to become a fire officer, you don’t just get issued with a jacket and a hose, everyone is trained.
I know that I’m really pleased that everyone does this sort of training to get it right, because if it ever involved friends or family I’d like to know that they had everything covered.
After all the excitement, the emergency services were then on hand for everone to see up close, with members of the team there to answer questions.
CERT were also signing up the community to Code Red which if you haven’t done so yet, you should do it’s free. To sign up, simply click the Code Red link to the right-hand side.
We would also like to take the opportunity to thank Papa John’s & Coke for supplying refreshments to all involved Saturday, your commitment and generosity within our community is always noted and appreciated, and not forgetting Lowe’s of course for the use of their parking lot.
