It’s important to prepare you and your family for an unexpected event.
A Ready kit with water, food, NOAA Weather Radio, flashlight, batteries and extra clothes can help your family survive for at least 72 hours following a disaster.
But what about people you know who need help preparing? An elderly home-bound neighbor, a friend with disabilities or special needs, or the economically disadvantaged in your community all realize the importance of being prepared, but may lack the resources or need assistance doing so themselves.
As you plan for yourself, you need to also think about people you know who may need help preparing. Start a dialogue with your neighbor. Ask if they are ready for an emergency. A simple action such as collecting Ready kit items for a home-bound person can ensure that all members in Waycross and Ware County are prepared for a disaster.
