Freezing Temperatures & Wind Chills:
Temperatures will rapidly plummet to freezing across many inland locations by midnight Wednesday night. A hard freeze warning is in effect where minimum temperatures will fall below 27 deg for over 2 hours, and a freeze warning is in effect for locations that will fall below 32 deg for at least 2 hours. Winds will remain elevated preventing frost formation, but wind chills are expected to range from the teens over inland areas to the mid 20s toward the coast. Expect a very cold and blustery start Thursday morning.
Despite sunny skies Thursday, temperatures will struggle to break 40 degrees over SE Ga and near the mid/upper 40s southward toward Ocala. Winds will decrease through the day, and a light freeze is expected inland Thursday night. The arctic blast will be short-lived with high temperatures rebounding into the 50s Friday and 60s into the weekend.
Marine Impacts:
Northerly winds will progressively increase over the Atlantic waters, and Small Craft Advisory conditions are expected by late Wednesday afternoon with a Gale Watch in effect for the offshore waters 20-60 NM. Winds and seas will relax below headlines Thursday night.
