NOAA has issued this warning for today, so if you’re out driving tonight, please take extra care.
With a persistent cool north-northeasterly flow pattern a dense sea fog has set up from Saint Augustine northward along the near shore coastal waters. Along the immediate beaches the fog has likewise remained thick throughout the day and as the sun sets this fog bank will very rapidly move back inland. The fog will first flow down the St Johns River and other rivers/estuaries this evening but will eventually it will cover most of north Florida and southeastern Georgia. With low sun angles this time of year it will be into mid-morning on Saturday before the fog is able to lift and burn off. Widespread visibility below 1/4 of a mile can be expected overnight.
